2016 was a heck of a great year and a sad year for us as well.
I set out to honestly document our family and all of our adventures in our new house in the burbs.
So many times I caught myself wanting to set up the perfect photo and had to remind myself that I was trying to capture HONEST moments and not staged ones. Looking back on these is such a gift to me. Seeing them all together like pages of our family diary – a beautiful, honest story of our lives in a new town, with new friends, lots of fun, some very sad moments and tons of home improvement projects. I am so happy that I stuck to the game plan and kept my camera close.
We had a few crappy moments in 2016, one of which (the death of our beloved Clyde) pretty much destroyed the momentum
I had going with this project. But I am human, sometimes I fail and it’s okay. It wasn’t all his fault, busy season was the main culprit, but subconsciously I think I was trying to avoid posting the photo I took of the day we said goodbye to him because I would have to relive our family’s pain again. Over the past few months, we have kept him close to our hearts and seeing his sweet little bulldog mug in so many of these photos has given back the joy he brought to our family.
I may not have finished the full 366 days of 2016, but I’m still very excited to share what I did capture with my clients & friends.
My hope is to show all of you how beautiful everyday life truly is. Our moments may not be perfect, in fact they can be quite messy and chaotic, but they are our moments spent together, loving each other with all we have.
